    Han fikk skjøte i 1910 for kr. 26.000,- for gården og kr. 9 000,- for Lund. Haugestad tok middelskoleeksamen i Holmestrand. Deretter gikk han på Landbrukshøyskolen i Ås 1885-87.
    Etter endt utdannelse var han gårdsbestyrer på Bø prestegård i Telemark 1887-88.
    I 1890 vikarierte han i 3 mndr. som gårdsbestyrer på Landbrukshøyskolen og kom i 1891 som gårdsforvalter til kammerherre Treschow på Fritzöehus ved Larvik. Denne stilling hadde han til i 1896 . I 1909 var O. V. Haugestad kst. lensmann i Hof.
    Olaf Haugestad drev gården sin som et mønsterbruk. For å skaffe seg springvann til gården, kjøpte han Øvre Kammelrud i 1913. Fra en olle der ble det lagt en ca. 2000 m lang vannledIning over Haugestadvannet og fram til gården. Denne vannledning va r i bruk til 1941. Den ble da avløst aven ny ledning fra «Fiskeolla» ved den gamle veien øst i skogen. En pumpe fører nå vannet opp til gården.
    I det offentlige liv i bygda deltok Haugestad en hel del.
    Av hans mange tillitsverv nevner vi: Medlem av herredstyret i mange år, formann i skolestyret og ligningsnemnda, forlikskommissær i 11 år og formann i landbrukslaget 1891, 1900-03 og 1910. Han ble meget nyttet som domsmann og takstmann, var medle m av Eidsfossbanens styre fra 1925. I sparebanken var han medlem av forstanderskapet i flere perioder etter 1899 og en tid dets nestformann.
    I 1941 solgte Haugestad gården til sønnen Jahn for kr. 60000, og flyttet til Lund.

    Jahn var lensmann fra 1862 til 1909.
    Han tok eksamen ved feltartilleriets underoffiserskole i 1854 og var deretter sersjant til utgangen av 1860. Haugestad ble konstituert som lensmann for ett år i 1862, da faren hadde søkt om, inntil videre, å være fritatt for bestillingen.
    I 1866 ble Jahn Haugestad beskikket som lensmann. Det måtte stilles kausjon for 600 spd. Han var herredskasserer i 1857 og 1870-79.
    18. oktober 1859 ble det holdt et dyrskue på Haugestad.
    I 1907 ble J. O. Haugestad tildelt borgerdådsmedaljen i sølv for lang og tro tjeneste som lensmann og forlikskommissær. Han var formann i forsorgsvesenet i 1885 og i 1901. I sparebanken var Haugestad medlem av for- standerskapet 1886-88. Det først e året også revisor og det siste året styrets formann.
    Haugestad var medlem av det første styre i Hoff Landboforening i l1867.
    I 1871 kjøpte Jahn Haugestad bruks nr. 1 på Gurrik for 1400 spd. Fra dette bruk ble innmarka solgt i 1911. Skogen tilhører fremdeles eieren av Haugestad.
    På bruks nr. 5, Lund, lot Haugestad like etter hundreårsskiftet bygge hus, og dit ned hadde han tenkt å flytte, men ble boende oppe på gården til sin død.

    Ole lånte 500 spd. i 1836 av sogneprest Petersen i Hof. I 1840-årene ble pantegjelden økt en del.
    I tiden 1823-33 hadde Ole Haugestad eid en part av Østre Kaldåker i Hillestad.

    I 1837 ble han valgt til medlem av det første herredstyre i Hof. Han ble utnevnt til kasserer og regnskapsfører for skole- og fattig- vesenet for 1838-39, var herredskasserer 1838-39, 1844-45 og i 1853. - Herredstyrets møter ble holdt på Haugesta d til 1848. I dette år ble Hofs første poståperneri opprettet på Haugestad. Hovedposten kom fra Drammen over Revo i Sande, mens biposten kom fra Svelvik over klokkergården Haga.

    Posten ble kjørt videre om Haugestad til Lardal prestegård (Holmestrandsposten 13. april 1848).
    Bruks nr. 2 og 4 ble solgt fra i 1857. S. å. solgte Haugestad en større part av det han hadde igjen til sønnen Jahn for 2400 spd. Innmarka til denne parten lå sør og vest på eiendommen og skogen nord og øst.

    Jahn overtok senere også det faren hadde igjen av gården.
